Unimarc opens its first store in Colina

Unimarc has opened its first store in the municipality of Colina, expanding its presence in the Metropolitan Region and marking the eighth Unimarc store inaugurated by the chain in 2025. The opening ceremony was attended by Colina’s mayor, Isabel Valenzuela, as well as representatives from civil society and SMU executives.

The new Santiago-area store—Unimarc’s 65th location in the Metropolitan Region—is located at 20165 New General San Martín Highway, Unit A1, Colina, and has a total area of 1,271 square meters. It features 13 checkout lanes for customers, eight of which are self-checkout.

“We are arriving in a municipality where we have always wanted to be. The families of Colina, with diverse household needs, deserve excellent service, a broad assortment and the best shopping experience. We invite the entire community to enjoy the quality and convenience of our private label brands such as Nuestra Cocina, Tento, Amada Masa and Fundo Río Alegre, among many others, as well as products from Unimarc’s 100% Nuestro Program, which highlights local flavors through entrepreneurial ventures from different regions of the country,” said Lionel Gubler, Unimarc Format Manager.

Colina’s mayor stated, “We are very pleased to have Unimarc here in the municipality with its 301st store. This significantly improves the quality of life for residents in the area and shows that we are on the right track in terms of local development. We now have a store that offers a full range of services and is well laid out.”

This new opening follows the recent expansion of SMU’s wholesale format, Alvi, which last week opened its first store in Quillota—a 1,943-square-meter location at 205 Fernando Monckeberg Avenue, Unit A1—bringing the chain’s total to 57 stores from La Serena to Punta Arenas. Both stores are part of the company’s omnichannel growth plan, under which the supermarket group now operates more than 400 locations nationwide.
