Unimarc Opens New Store in Reñaca, Reaching 30 Locations in the Valparaíso Region

Unimarc inaugurated a new supermarket on Thursday, February 19, in the municipality of Viña del Mar, expanding its footprint in the Valparaíso Region and reaching a total of 30 stores. This marks the second store opened by SMU this year, following the announcement of its 2026–2028 three-year plan, which includes 38 new stores across its formats in Chile (23 Unimarc, 10 Super10 and 5 Alvi) and 22 Maxiahorro stores in Peru, for a total of 60 openings over the next three years. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Municipality of Viña del Mar, civil society and company executives.

The 30th Unimarc store in the Valparaíso Region is located in Reñaca, specifically at 1850 Av. Edmundo Eluchans, and features a 1,146-square-meter sales floor. The store also has 14 checkout lanes, eight of which are self-checkout. The opening comes with exclusive promotions, raffles, tastings and surprise prizes, which will run for several days for customers visiting the new store.

Unimarc Format Manager Lionel Gubler said: “We are very pleased to continue growing and to complete our second opening of the year. With this new store in Reñaca, we aim to deliver the best shopping experience for our customers, with a broad assortment, attractive prices and excellent service. We are also happy to be a source of employment for the people of Viña del Mar, as more than 50% of the 45 employees who work at this store live in the municipality, and 67% are women.”

The new supermarket offers a wide assortment, highlighting quality and freshness in perishable categories such as meat, fruits and vegetables, bakery and pastry, deli meats and cheeses, as well as ready-to-eat meals. It also features a competitive offering of SMU’s private-label brands, including Nuestra Cocina, Tento, Amada Masa, Merkat, Fundo Río Alegre, Como en Casa and Los Peumos, among many others. In addition, products from Unimarc’s 100% Nuestro program stand out, showcasing local flavors through partnerships with entrepreneurs from all regions of the country.
